A QUEEN FOR A DAY, Starring David Proval & Vincent Pastore, Begins This Month Off-Broadway

Michael Ricigliano Jr.'s A QUEEN FOR A DAY directed by John Gould Rubin will begin performances on April 14 and will open on May 3 running through July 26, 2015 at Theatre at St. Clement's (423 West 46 Street). Set in an abandoned warehouse, Giovanni (David Proval) is a respected "made-man" forced into a difficult position. Torn between love, loyalty and survival, he is asked to give up his crime boss brother, Pasquale (Vincent Pastore), as part of a one day immunity deal also known as a "Queen for a Day." Michael Ricigliano Jr.'s new play, A Queen for a Day offers a glimpse into a world where loyalty is prized above all and there is nothing anyone would not do to protect their family.

MICHAEL RICIGLIANO Jr. successfully balances two careers. In recent years he developed a career as a writer and film/theater producer, while also still practicing law in New York. Currently, through Jackson Leonard Productions, LLC, which he formed with producing partner Jeff Schneider, to develop and produce feature film, stage and television projects, they are finishing post-production on the feature film Lily of the Feast starring David Proval, Troy Garity and Paul Sorvino. Lily of the Feast is the feature length version of the short film by the same name that Ricigliano also penned and produced. The short won the "Best Short Film" award at the 2011 Long Island International Film Expo, "Best Director -Short" Long Island International Film Festival, Golden Door Film Festival, Williamsburg Independent Film Festival, the award for "Creative Vision" (dir. Federico Castelluccio) at the Rhode Island International Film Festival, "Best Actor" (Castelluccio) Golden Door Film Festival and "Best Ensemble" Orlando International Film Festival. Ricigliano has written scripts for several other film and television projects in various stages of development including Brooklyn Law, The Scorpion Tale, The Devil's Banker and Created Equal based on the book by R.A. Brown.

JOHN GOULD RUBIN (Director) is Artistic Director of The Private Theatre, for which he directed a site-specific Hedda Gabler; Strindberg's Playing with Fire at The Box; and a wheel-chair bound Peer Gynt for The International Ibsen Festival, Oslo, and the Old Vic. He directed The Cherry Orchard with Ellen Burstyn, Riding The Midnight Express (Off-Broadway and London,) Double Indemnity for the Old Globe and was co-Artistic/Executive Director of LAByrinth Theater, for which he directed eight shows, produced Jesus Hopped the 'A' Train (NY/Edinburgh/West End) and Our Lady of 121st Street. He also produced the tour of Stephen Dillane's one-man Macbeth to London, Sydney and New Zealand. Other recent work includes: Rosencrantz & Guildenstern Are Dead, Caucasian Chalk Circle, Reza De Wet's Three Sisters Two, The Seagull, the Off-Broadway musical The Fartiste; and a bilingual workshop of Ximena Escalante's Electra Despierta at Cal Arts. He wrote and performed in Karole Armitage's multi-media show, The Predators' Ball, (Florence, Italy and BAM,) and is creating four other pieces - one on Dick Gregory (with Joe Morton;) another on Sargent Shriver, the Peace Corps and the U.S. Invasion of the Dominican Republic; another on the political polarization of America and another on the life and iconoclastic career of Erik Satie.
