70th Birthday Concert for Judith Lang Zaimont Set for Symphony Space, 11/7

Celebrating the Music of Judith Lang Zaimont - A 70th Birthday Concert will be presented on Saturday, November 7 at 8:00 PM at the Leonard Nimoy Thalia at Symphony Space, 2537 Broadway at 95th Street in New York, NY.

This concert honors the composer at her 70th birthday through performances of several of her most-played chamber music titles. Works to be performed will be Zaimont's Sonata for Piano Solo, Reflective Rag for flute and piano, Bubble-Up Rag for flute and piano, Zones - Piano Trio No. 2 and Serenade for violin, cello and piano

Pianist Joanne Polk, a champion of Zaimont's music for over two decades, is the featured performer with guest artists, flutist Immanuel Davis, violinist Yura Seung-Jung Oh, and cellist Julian Langford.

Judith Lang Zaimont is internationally recognized for her music's distinctive style, characterized by emotion, expressive strength and dynamism. In both orchestral and choral works, her creation of inventive and widely varied colors and textures is repeatedly cited. A 2003 Aaron Copland Award winner and 2012 winner of Tempus Continuum and Third Millennium ensemble prize and an American Prize in Orchestral Composition, she has enjoyed a distinguished career as composer of over 120 works with performances by the Philadelphia Orchestra, Baltimore Symphony, Berlin and Czech Radio symphonies, Camerata Bern, Janacek Philharmonic Orchestra Ostrava and the Kremlin Chamber Orchestra.
