Victoria Clark, nominated for BEST PERFORMANCE BY AN ACTRESS IN A FEATURED ROLE IN A MUSICAL for CINDERELLA
I skillfully did not tell my son this year that the nominations were today, because the last two times he made me get up and watch! He had to be at school earlier than normal today, so I got him up early to shower and then went back to sleep and didn't find out until 9:45. I found that it's best to get as much rest NOW as you can, because if you don't get the sleep you'll get caught up in the excitement and it's just like spinning your wheels.
How did I celebrate? I had a dentist appointment today and celebrated by getting my teeth cleaned. I guess my teeth will be extra shiny for the photographers tomorrow! I was always so confident about Santino and Laura because I have the best seat in the house to watch them every night. The score is from the late 50's, so it's not everyone's cup of tea, but the new book by Douglas Carter Beane gives it jazz and specificity and the creative team created such an amazing world for the show to live in. The response has been an amazing thing and we're all thrilled - bitter sweet because not everyone you want has been recognized from the team, like Mark Brokaw (director) and Josh Rhodes (choreographer) but I've always felt like a nomination for one person from the team is like a nomination for us all.
