Critic Stephen Holden of The New York Times describes Eric Yves Garcia as "a handsome young singer and pianist with genuine star quality" who "belongs to the school of jazz-leaning connoisseurs of the American Songbook epitomized by the irreplaceable Bobby Short," and he further states he's also an "amusing storyteller with the timing of a standup comedian."

Garcia brings his critically-lauded act, 'ONE NIGHT STANDARDS,' to Lynn University's Amarnick-Goldstein Concert Hall on Wednesday, April 1st at 7:30 PM.

He grew up in Red Bank, NJ, started playing piano when he was seven, and today says he "sings sentimental love songs late at night for a living."

His show 'ONE NIGHT STANDARDS' pulls lesser known songs from the Great American Songbook canon.

"I refuse to perform these songs as if they are dusty museum pieces," says Garcia. "These are great songs that have just as much relevance today as they did 50 or so years ago."

Specializing in the American Songbook, jazz and standards, some of the New York spots he's played include Firebird, Don't Tell Mama's, 54 Below, Birdland, Monkey Bar, Feinstein's at the Regency, Danny's Skylight Room, The Cafe Carlyle at the Hotel Carlyle, The Oak Room at the Algonquin Hotel, The Townhouse and Chez Josephine.

He was the recipient of the 2014 Margaret Whiting Award at the 24th New York Cabaret Convention held at Lincoln Center, and has received two MAC Award nominations, and was the winner of the 2014 Bistro Award for Outstanding Singer/Instrumentalist.

The Live at Lynn Cabaret Series features a guest artist every month this winter/spring through May of 2015, from The Mabel Mercer Foundation's cabaret presentations that are a part of 'Jazz at Lincoln Center.' Future guest artists scheduled to appear at Lynn are Carol Woods (May 20th) and Marilyn Maye (June 7th.)

These Series presentations are sponsored by Nancy and Ellis J. Parker, and by the Palm Beach Theater Guild (Samuel Taylor, chairman and president).

Tickets for this series may be purchased by phone at 561-237-9000; online at http://events.lynn.edu; or at the Box Office at Lynn University, on the west side of Military Trail in Boca Raton, FL.
