Albuquerque Theatre Guild, the Theatre Lovers Community and The Filling Station invite everyone interested in learning more about the ins and outs of theatre reviews to "Under Scrutiny: The Art of Theatre Reviewing," a talk and discussion, on Saturday, April 14 at 1:30 p.m. at The Filling Station (1024 4th St. SW).

Speakers at the free event include Albuquerque Journal theatre reviewer Barry Gaines, Talkin' Broadway writer Rob Spiegel and Daily Lobo columnist Justino Brokaw.

"Theater reviewers can play a critical role in the success or failure of productions – a positive review can pack houses, while a lukewarm or negative one can leave seats unsold.

Participants will talk about the process by which theatre reviewers form and express their opinions for their readers," say event organizers Hugh Witemeyer and Kay Grant. "For a change, reviewers themselves will come under scrutiny."
