The Adobe Theater will be holding auditions for Arcadia by Tom Stoppard on March 26 & 27, 2011. Directed by Matthew Naegeli, the show has 8 male and 4 female roles available for performances that will run June 3 - 26.

"In 1809, Thomasina Coverly, heiress to the country estate Sidley Park, is a precocious teenager with ideas about mathematics well ahead of her time. She studies with her tutor, Septimus Hodge, a friend of Lord Byron (who is an unseen guest in the house). In 1993 a writer and an academic converge on the house: Hannah Jarvis, the writer, is investigating a hermit who once lived on the grounds; Bernard Nightingale, a professor of literature, is investigating a mysterious chapter in the life of Byron. As their investigations unfold, helped by Valentine Coverly, a post-graduate student in mathematical biology, the truth about what happened in Thomasina's lifetime is gradually revealed. In this dazzling play of wit, intrigue and comedy, Stoppard guides us through two intertwining stories of romance and discovery; sharing the same room but separated by centuries."

In 1957 the people of Corrales NM got together to create a Community Theater, and named it The ADOBE Theater. They acted, directed, hammered and painted sets, sewed and fitted costumes and did all the other thousand-and-one things that make a theater work. Children were recruited to act and work backstage, to greet patrons with smiles and programs at the door and, best of all, to grow up loving the excitement of Live Theater - on both sides of the footlights.

Today, The ADOBE Theater continues the mission that began that summer long ago: "To present the finest theatrical performances to our community; to provide an educational vehicle to produce plays, musicals and other entertainments - and furnish an opportunity for learning experiences for theater enthusiasts of all ages with any degree of experience."
