As the 2013 OzAsia Festival draws to a triumphant close this weekend, the annual celebration of cultural diversity continues on its path to success, contributing cultural value to South Australia and shortening the bridge between our Asian neighbours. To date the Festival boasts nine sold out performances and events, great critical acclaim and audience feedback.

This Festival continues to increase its engagement with community groups, schools and businesses across with its various cultural offerings throughout the 19 day Festival.

This year's Festival played host to 28 performances and 47 events featuring 195 artists and presenters from across the globe and boasted 6 world premieres, 9 Australian premieres, 22 South Australian premieres, 24 Australian exclusives and 2 Adelaide exclusives with the spotlight on Malaysia. The Festival was once again proudly sponsored by Major Festival Partner Santos.

OzAsia Festival Director Jacinta Thompson says, "I am very proud that the OzAsia Festival continues to be embraced by so many audiences through the myriad of the Festival's artistic offerings. Ultimately this engages us all in the broader conversations about Australia's place in Asia and Asia's place in Australia. The Festival brings communities together to create shared understandings.

I am excited to announce that the 2014 OzAsia Festival will put the spotlight on Shandong Province,South Australia's sister state. A diverse array of traditional and contemporary work across all performing arts platforms."

Unfortunately due to extreme weather conditions this year's Moon Lantern Festival was cancelled. Despite the cancellation it did not detract from all of the hard work the 42 community groups and 9 schools had made in the lead up to the event. Their commitment will be rewarded when the lanterns are paraded on Monday September 8, 2014 when we can expect the Parade, a celebration of inclusiveness and a symbol of the harmony and brightness of our diverse community to be bigger than ever before.
