Skating Polly is excited to announce that they will be joining X on tour in early May following the April 28th release of their New Trick EP that features Nina Gordon and Louise Post from Veruca Salt. The EP was produced by Brad Wood (Liz Phair, Sunny Day Real Estate, Smashing Pumpkins) and is the follow-up to 2016's The Big Fit LP. Skating Polly, officially a three-piece now as stepsisters Kelli Mayo (17) and Peyton Bighorse (21) are joined full-time by brother Kurtis Mayo (20), first met X's Exene Cervenka after a show in Oklahoma City in 2010. The punk rock legend was impressed with the girls' extensive musical knowledge and began to correspond with them via e-mail which eventually led to her producing their second album Lost Wonderfuls in 2013. They've remained close ever since and four years and two albums later, Skating Polly are thrilled that they get to spend some time with Exene and X on the road this spring.

The early May tour dates come just a couple of days after Skating Polly releases their brand new EP New Trick that they wrote and recorded with Veruca Salt's co-front women Nina and Louise. The band released news of the EP on March 22nd with the help of NPR who featured the first song and video for "Hail Mary" on All Songs TV and described their music as "...songs that veer between sweet and catchy and full-throated screams with distorted, chug-a-lug guitar." Stereogum picked up the clip, adding "'Hail Mary' has some of the grand, large-scale fuzzy melodicism that's largely gone extinct from the '90s. It's a very cool song, and it has a very cool and arty video from director Dave Smith."

Just last week Skating Polly dropped another song and video from the New Trick EP when UPROXX premiered the clip for "Louder In Outer Space" along with an interview commenting "...their wide-ranging listening habits allow them to synthesize many sounds into their music, giving them an incredible breadth of sounds, both sonically and lyrically."
