Opera North Announces Cast for MADAMA BUTTERFLY

Opera North is pleased to announce the principal roles for Madama Butterfly, one of its three 2017 mainstage productions. Soprano Jinwon Park will sing the title role of Madama Butterfly, tenor Michael Brandenburg will be Lt. Pinkerton, and mezzo-soprano Augusta Caso will play Suzuki.

Several of the creative team for Madama Butterfly will be returning to Opera North this season. The production will be directed by Russell Treyz and conducted by Filippo Ciabatti. David Arsenault is the set designer and Jack Maisenbach is the costume designer.

"We are proud to present Puccini's universally loved epic romance as part of Opera North Summerfest this coming season. We have a powerful cast and creative team who are working to bring this enduring story and most famous score passionately to life," say General Director Evans Haile.

One of the most famous and popular operas of all time will tug at your heart with its passionate embrace. Madama Butterfly is filled with some of Puccini's most beloved and soaring melodies and tells of the epic romance between a young Japanese geisha, who turns her back on tradition, and an American lieutenant, with a different view. Performances will be held at Lebanon Opera House, in Lebanon, New Hampshire on Friday, August 4 at 7:30 pm, Sunday, August 6 at 5:00 pm, Friday, August 11 at 7:30 pm and Sunday, August 13 at 5:00 pm.

Summerfest 2017 - Opera North's 35th season - runs July 8 to August 13, 2017 and features concerts and special events at historic sites around the region plus three mainstage productions - Puccini's Madama Butterfly, Offenbach's La belle Hélène, and Cole Porter's Kiss Me, Kate - at Lebanon Opera House. Concert locations include Blow-Me-Down Farm (Cornish, New Hampshire), Sunapee Cruises (Lake Sunapee, New Hampshire), Highland Center for the Arts (Greensboro, Vermont), and The Fells Historic Estate & Gardens (Newbury, New Hampshire).
