A taste of Tuscany is yours on the Upper East Side. Campagnola, on 1st Avenue between 73rd and 74th Streets, offers fine Italian dining in a classic atmosphere. You'll be transported to the best that Italy has to offer.

We stopped by on a Thursday night and enjoyed a wonderful dinner at a cozy table for two. Campagnola has seating options for parties of all sizes. When we were there, a group gathering enjoyed a family style Italian feast. We like that the service is attentive, gracious and very willing to help you make the best choices. Even before you order, thick, crusty bread and a plate of cheese and select meats are yours to enjoy while you ponder your meal choices.

We started our dinner with a fantastic appetizer. The savory Vongole Oreganata are tender clams baked with Parmesan cheese and garlic. There is a delightful array of Hot and Cold Antipasto selections, salads, and soups to start your meal.

For an entrée, or table share, Campagnola's Pasta Sampler shouldn't be missed. It includes a trio of favorites that includes fluffy Gnocchi con Pesto, creamy Penne Vodka and delicate Ravioli Porcini. We also enjoyed Pesce del Giorno or the catch of the day. The Dover Sole was the best we've ever had. Lightly seasoned, the delicate texture of this fresh, flaky and moist fish comes shining through.

Sides complement entrees perfectly like their Zucchini Friti or pan-fried Potato Campagnola. Served in generous portions, they are ideal for sharing.

Be sure to sit back and enjoy dessert along with coffee, tea or an aperitif. You won't get a better Neopolitan anywhere in the city. The flaky pastry is layered with a light, creamy filling and served with fresh berries. And, of course, their housemade Tiramisu is tops.

Food and drink pairings are made easy at Campagnola. Explore the outstanding list of Italian wines and those from around the globe that are served by the glass or bottle. You can also choose from a top selection of beers and cocktails.

Now with the completion of the 2nd Avenue Subway getting to the Upper East Side and visiting Campagnola is easier than ever before. Plan your next dinner and "Mange!"
